Freshman Island School Trip Promotes Service Learning

The Form III boys are spending the week in the Bahamas engaging in independent field research and service learning.

The boys are conducting marine ecology research and participating in service projects by working with local schools and assisting in beach clean-up efforts. This study abroad program aims to inspire and educate Browning boys, helping them to develop the global perspective needed for success in today's interconnected world.

Browning is partnering with the Island School, which has been hosting international students since 1999. The campus and surrounding ocean is their laboratory and, with help from their partners at the Cape Eleuthera Institute, the Island School teaches students how to engage in the process of inquiry to discover solutions to real-world problems, how to conduct scientific research, and how to live sustainably in the 21st century.
